Sainsbury’s Mere Green Charity of the Year checkout with over £5,000

Sutton Coldfield charitable organisation, Footsteps Counselling and Support, has received cheques from Sainsbury’s Mere Green to the value of £5,577.00.

After a successful year as Charity Partner of the Year, £4,000 has been raised through fundraising in the store and £1,577 from the sale of bags for life.

Yaz Benson, Footsteps Counselling and Support said:

“We’re very touched by the generosity and would like to thank the customers and colleagues at Sainsbury’s Mere Green. The money raised will really make a difference to us.”

Store Manager, Adam Cadwallader said:

“It’s been fantastic to see the way everyone has pulled together since we started the partnership with Footsteps Counselling and Support. It’s great to think that we’re making a positive difference to so many people.”

Customer voting is now open until 26th June for the Local Charity of the Year Scheme. Customers can vote through the in store voting system or online at www.sainsburyslocalcharity.co.uk

The three shortlisted charities are:

  • Marie Curie Sutton Coldfield Fundraising Group;
  • Parkinson’s UK Royal Sutton Coldfield and North Birmingham Branch; and
  • Footsteps Counselling and Support.
