Local charity seeks volunteers
Local cancer support charity, The Cancer Support Centre, is urgently looking for a team of committed individuals to help with their latest fundraising appeal.
Ann Mckeown, Fundraiser of The Cancer Support Centre said: “We have a large number of collection boxes that have kindly been donated to us but to really benefit from these we need to get the collection boxes placed in locations as quickly as possible. We have never before been able to afford to buy collecting boxes and to do this before but now this gives us an opportunity to not only raise money but to also raise our profile. We do tend to lose out to the bigger charities with these things so it would be great to get our name out there and encourage more people to support what is their local charity.”
The charity has two roles for volunteers, one will be approaching retail outlets to see if they would be happy to take a box whilst volunteers will also be needed to then service these boxes, emptying them at regular intervals and making sure they are properly labelled.
There is no fixed amount of time you need to give each week or month so the role can fit around any existing commitments. Full training will be given as well as lots of support and advice.
The Cancer Support Centre, which is located in Lindridge Road, helps and supports anyone affected by cancer. This could be someone recently diagnosed with cancer, someone currently receiving treatment or someone with longer term effects post-cancer treatment.
