The Band Hub: A New Professional Recording Studio / Rehearsal Rooms with Music Tuition Opens in Sutton Coldfield
If you’re a music creative or you are looking to learn an instrument there are some new players in town that you really need to check out. I did last week and was very impressed by the guys at The Band Hub.
Based in the grounds of Sutton Coldfield Town FC, The Band Hub was created by local musicians to provide a facility that encompasses two rehearsal studios, one of which is also used for tuition, and a professional recording studio. The aim behind the enterprise is to bring together learning, development, rehearsing and recording into one unique space.
Or, to put it in their own words:
“The Band Hub aims to make music more accessible then ever and to bring an infectious musical energy to our customers and the community. We pride ourselves in our passion for music and our dedication to deliver the best service we can.”
To be frank, with the exception of the rather neat branding the Hub itself doesn’t have the most enticing exterior but never judge a book by its cover. The interior appears TARDIS-like bigger on the inside and the facilities are fantastic with the rooms brimming with first-rate kit.
But it isn’t just about the kit. The Band Hub is a unique space because of the guys behind it. I was only there for a short time but their enthusiasm and knowledge was immediately apparent.
Joshua is the engineer of the team. Learning to play the drums at 11 he quickly moved into his preferred music area of production. His self taught studio engineering and production skills being enhanced with an honours degree in Music Technology. He has worked in the UK, Ireland and USA.
Ciaran has been around music all his life and is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and music producer. He recently gave up touring with his band to concentrate on the creation and development of The Band Hub. Describing the new facility he said:
“Theres nothing you can’t do at it, you can literally learn your instrument , write songs with your band and record those songs in the same place alongside other artists and bands. Its like a playground for aspiring artists and musicians!”
A recent addition to the team is Krzys who has a background as a music teacher, a skill set he brings to the party. Krzys teaches piano and vocals at The Band Hub as well as being involved with school workshops across Birmingham where he engages with students in music and delivers music BTEC. The workshops can be delivered at The Band Hub or at schools.
Music lessons provided through The Band Hub and available for all ages include guitar, piano, drums and vocal, oh and there is a regular Monday evening choir from 7pm-8:30pm.
And, as with most community orientated initiatives, the charges are very reasonable. Rehearsal Rooms are £10 per hour with hardware, leads, cymbals and microphones included. The recording studio is £100 a day (8 hours of recording) including mixing, mastering and a free studio diary. Tuition is from £10 per hour. All very, very competitive prices, especially when you consider the trio’s experience and expertise.
