Sutton Coldfield twins star in new Corn Flakes ad

When it comes to breakfast cereals they don’t come much bigger than Kellogg’s and a pair of Sutton Coldfield twins are telling the nation how they like to eat their Corn Flakes in the latest TV advert.

Damien and Daegan Batchelor were handpicked for one of eight slots in the cereal giant’s latest ad after proving they were Corn Flakes biggest fans.

Earlier this year Kellogg’s took to social media to ask the UK how they eat their perfect bowl of Corn Flakes, in the hunt for wacky, versatile recipes and cereal super fans.

The Hill West Primary pupils were whittled down from hundreds of applicants in an intensive interview process.

Amusingly the cheeky nine-year-olds were selected for passionately disagreeing on the best ways to eat corn.

Damien, who favours his Corn Flakes crunchy with cold milk, said:

“I’m very excited to be in the advert, we haven’t told any of our friends that we have been filming so it will be a surprise – I can’t wait to see their faces when we are on the telly.”

Last month, a film crew descended on the Batchelor’s family home, where parents Sarah, 38, and dad Carl, 50, watched on as their sons took centre stage.

Daegan, who prefers his Corn Flakes soft with warm milk, added:

“The filming was so cool, we had loads of people in our kitchen in and dining room – we couldn’t believe how many cameras there were. Cornflakes is my favourite cereal so it is very exciting to be in the new advert.”

Bursting with pride, mum Sarah said she too is looking forward to the advert going live.

The cake business owner, said:

“The kids have always eaten Corn Flakes it was one of the first things they ate when they were little. Me and my husband saw the market research post and thought the boys love it so why not put them forward.

“We thought it would be a really fun experience for the family and a great opportunity for the children – not many people can say they starred in a television advert!

“On the filming day our house was buzzing with people there was between twenty and thirty people with lights and cameras it was really exciting to go behind the scenes. We are hugely proud of the boys and excited to see it air on TV, I’m sure we will all huddle around the TV when it goes live.”

The ad campaign will feature a cast of eight real families and individuals, all genuine fans, talking about their ‘perfect bowl’ of Corn Flakes – and will debut on prime time TV on January 6th.

The decision to launch the 12 month marketing campaign comes after a six year break in commercial advertising for the breakfast cereal.
A spokesperson from Kellogg’s, said:

“We have seen a change in how people are eating cereal but also in what they are having for breakfast. Therefore we wanted to capture how our customers are eating Corn Flakes.

“After a long break from advertising, it is time for us to start talking about Corn Flakes again; our cast remind people what they love about this iconic cereal.”
