If you have yet to visit the gallery in Sutton Coldfield’s Gracechurch Centre now is a good time to put that right.

Occupying the substantial premises that was previously BHS, Direct Art Action has created a fantastic community art space. With some great pieces of work on display the gallery is a delightful place to wander (and wonder) around. But there is still more to this space which brings a much needed cultural addition to the town centre.

The gallery has just opened its Art Cafe where you can sit after browsing the pieces on display and have a warm drink as the winter weather starts to move in – just this morning, social media posts were reporting on the first flurries of snow to fall on the Royal Town!

There is also a chance to raise funds for Sutton Coldfield charitable organisation Our Place by taking part in creating a giant paper chain.

Katie Hammond explains:

“We want to create a community paper chain. Basically it costs £1 to decorate a paper link, with 50p going directly to the Our Place organisation. It would be fantastic to get as many of the community as possible involved, and create a huge paper chain that will hang the entire length of the gallery.

“We decided to support Our Place as we were really impressed with the services that they provided. We liked that they provide youth services and support to people who may be struggling finding work.”

In addition to being part of creating the community paper chain there is a craft area to browse for Christmas presents.
