Paralympic star Ellie Simmonds urges Sutton Coldfield to support Sport Relief 2016
Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games events are taking place from Friday 18th March to Sunday 20th March, with people urged to walk, run, swim or cycle at over 1,000 locations across the UK, to raise money for Sport Relief.
Of all the money raised by the public through Sport Relief, 50% is used to make a difference in the UK, the other 50% goes towards transforming the lives across the word’s poorest communities.
Ellie Simmonds, who is backing Sainsbury’s support for the event said:
“Sport Relief is one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events and I encourage everyone in Sutton Coldfield to get involved by taking part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games or buying some of the fun Sport Relief product available in Sainsbury’s.
“Sport Relief does great work and it’s brilliant to see the enthusiasm for this year’s event. With Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games events happening right across the country, I encourage people to take part and to do themselves proud.”
A number of fundraising events will also be taking place at Sainsbury’s Mere Green including cycling and rowing challenges, football matches,a colleague bake off, a tombola and a chance to win a signed Aston Villa football shirt. On Friday 18th March colleagues from Sainsbury’s stores will form a relay and walk the distance between each main store.

Not only is the event going to be brilliant fun but there’s the opportunity to raise money for a fantastic cause. We’ll also be running fundraising events in store and have a fantastic array of merchandise on sale.”
