Rotary Club of Wylde Green support annual Kids Out Day

Members of the Rotary Club of Wylde Green have been in action again helping out at the annual Kids Out Day at Drayton Manor Park.

Throughout the UK over 27,000 children took part in the National Rotary Kids Out Day at over 90 venues. Some visited the seaside, others theme parks, adventure playgrounds and zoos, giving them all wonderful memories to cherish for a lifetime. At Drayton Manor Park 4600 children, together with their teachers and carers, took part on what turned out to be a scorcher of a day!

Kids Out’s National Day Out gives disabled and disadvantaged children the opportunity to have fun and enjoy what many other children may take for granted. This special day is vital to the lives and hopes of thousands of children across the UK and is only possible thanks to the thousands of Rotarians, volunteers and supporters who make it possible.

Members of the Wylde Green Rotary Club have been active supporters for many years, working closely with staff and pupils at Wilson Stuart School and Sports College, in Perry Common Road, Erdington. This year they took 30 children from the school to the theme park.

Sharon Hughes, Head of Early Years at Wilson Stuart School said:

“Caterpillars, Bees and Butterflies Classes from Wilson Stuart School were invited to spend the day at Drayton Manor by the Wylde Green Rotary Club last week. We were lucky enough to have a fantastic sunny day to really make the most of our visit to the Park. We headed straight to Thomas Land to see which rides we wanted to go on. We saw Thomas the Tank Engine and lots of his friends and got to ride on some of them. We went on as many different rides as we could fit in and were supported throughout by wonderful volunteers from the Wylde Green Rotary Club.

“We have been invited on this Kids Out day out for many years and meeting up again with the Rotary Club members is a bit like meeting up with old friends. We had a brilliant day out. We all enjoyed ourselves and had lots of fun. We would like to say a big ‘Thank you’ to the Wylde Green Rotary Club and their volunteers for such a fantastic day!”

Arthur Law, Chairman of the Rotary Club’s Youth Committee, commented:

“Here at Wylde Green Rotary we have been enthusiastic supporters of Kids Out for many years, working with pupils and staff at Wilson Stuart School in Erdington. This year was no exception. It was wonderful to see the joy on the children’s faces as they experienced the various rides. But each year we’ve taken part I have been left wondering who has had more pleasure – the young people or the Rotarians!”
