What’s On: Linda Haynes Exhibition at Highbury Theatre
What: Art Exhibition – Linda Haynes (4ArtSake)
Where: Highbury Theatre, Sheffield Road, Sutton Coldfield B73 5HD
When: 17 – 28 October 2017
Working primarily with acrylic paint on canvas, Linda Haynes is a self-taught artist who draws her inspiration from the images in the photographic journal she compiled over the last four years.
The journal records the experiences she had while travelling through the many diverse cultures and environments of Western Europe and countries further afield including Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. Originally working with watercolours, Linda now paints exclusively in acrylics but she enjoys combining the varying technique used across both mediums.
In recent years Linda has spent the summer months working in a tiny remote hamlet in the Poitou Charentes region of France. The very quiet, peaceful and secluded environment gave her the opportunity to develop her techniques, build up a selection of work from her photo-journal and compile the collection on display here a Highbury Theatre.
About the artist
Linda, who is from Sutton Coldfield went on to study for 4 years at The Birmingham School of
Jewellery after finishing school.
As a self employed jeweller she found lots of inspiration for her designs both from nature and the local industrial environment, first drawing and then painting her initial ideas before creating them either in gold or silver.
She had always enjoyed sketching or drawing and it was at this point her love of painting began.
Linda taught and assessed for Birmingham Metropolitan College from 1999 until 2011.
She has sold paintings to collectors in Australia, New Zealand, UK, Portugal, France, Spain,
Germany and Italy.
