Bishop Vesey Volunteers Ready for Sutton Coldfield Community Games

Sixth formers from Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School are getting set for the games – as they prepare to give their time to support the Sutton Coldfield Community Games once again.

Volunteers from the school were presented with their ‘Games Maker’ t-shirts by Dennis Kennedy, organiser of Games, Chris Green, from sponsors Green & Company estate agency, and event mascot, Buddy.

Over 50 volunteers from the school will be on duty at Wyndley Leisure Centre on July 8th and 9th for the Community Games, which aims to give everyone an opportunity to try their hand at the enormous variety of sports played and activities enjoyed in and around Sutton Coldfield.

This year there will be more than 60 sports and activities available for people to try over the two-day event – and all for free.

Dennis Kennedy said:

“The Sutton Coldfield Community Games is a free event run completely by volunteers, and if it wasn’t for the generosity of the sixth formers at Bishop Vesey’s we would not be able to make it as big as it is.

“They did a fantastic job last year as our very own Games Makers in the style of London 2012 and I cannot thank the school and its pupils enough for the support they are showing again this year.”

Chris Green from Green & Company said:

“This is our fifth year supporting the Community Games and we cannot wait to get started again.

“Green & Company is proud to play such an active part in our local community. Staff from our branches across Sutton Coldfield and surrounding areas will be giving up their time to join the Community Games committee, Bishop Vesey’s volunteers, other sponsors and a host of local sports clubs in helping to make it a fun-packed weekend.”
