THSH partner Highbury Theatre as Sutton Coldfield Arts Champions
Residents in Sutton Coldfield are being invited to a day of special events on Sunday 21 September at Mere Green Community Centre to mark the start of Town Hall & Symphony Hall Birmingham’s three-year residency as Arts Champions for the Sutton Coldfield District.
Activities start at 1pm with an engaging, two-hour circular walk ‘In Search of the Four Oaks’ led by Still Walking’s Martin Collins who will take a look at the trees we encounter daily in our gardens, parklands and suburban streets.
At 3pm, Flatpack present Caravan of Film in association with MUBU Music, a fantastic opportunity to enjoy creating music and sound effects to accompany animations with the help of gypsy-folk outfit Trio Damba. Caravan of Film is especially suitable for families and children who may not have had the opportunity to engage with this kind of activity before.
Afterwards, there’s a chance to chat and make friends over tea and cakes with a social event to round off the afternoon.
Advance booking is required for the ‘In Search of the Four Oaks’ walk, which is for residents of Sutton Coldfield District. No booking is required for Caravan of Film, just turn up. All events are free.
Over the next three years, Town Hall and Symphony Hall will be working in partnership with Highbury Theatre Centre to support community arts as Birmingham City Council Arts Champions for the Sutton Coldfield District.
