All aboard with the Sutton Coldfield Sea Cadets

Wylde Green Rotarians had a “most interesting” visit to TS Sutton Coldfield, the home of the Sutton Coldfield Sea cadets.

Having been greeted by the Lt (SCC) Alan Wright RNR, Commanding Officer of the Sutton Coldfield Sea Cadets, the visit started with the Cadets showing the Rotarians the Colours Ceremony that was carried out with great professionalism.

Some of the Cadets then went out on nearby Powell’s Pool to test their boat handling skills.

Others went into the newly acquired classrooms where training courses were taking place.

The evening concluded with refreshments when there was an opportunity for the Rotarians to chat with the younger Cadets.

Jackie Ridge, President of the Rotary Club of Wylde Green commented:
“What an brilliant time we had looking around T S Sutton Coldfield, the training ship of the Sutton Coldfield Sea Cadets.

“Working with young people is a very important part of Rotary’s work as we know they will be the leaders of tomorrow. So it was particularly interesting seeing them in training sessions, on parade, in the classroom and on the water.

We discussed several ways how we hope to work together more in the future. Keep up the good work Sea Cadets – you are all a great credit to Royal Sutton Coldfield.”

Wylde Green Rotarians are enthusiastic, fun loving, active volunteers who give of their time and talents to serve communities.

Meetings are held on Tuesday evenings 7.15 pm for 7.30 pm at Pype Hayes Golf Club, Eachelhurst Road, Walmley, Sutton Coldfield, B76 1EP where a warm welcome awaits anyone interested in finding out more about the work of Rotary.
